Andrew is the President of ICAEW; he chairs its Board and he is a member of its Council.

He was formerly an audit engagement partner with PwC, spending his career leading a variety of large international audit engagements in a range of industries. He also worked on management buy-outs, IPOs and other transactions, risk assessment and control effectiveness, investigations for regulators and expert witness work.

In the late 1990s, he was a member of the PwC UK firm’s Board and was subsequently elected to PwC’s Global Board, which oversees the PwC international network. He was the Chairman of that Board from 2001 to 2005.

Andrew is the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Royal College of Music and the Honorary Treasurer of The National Gardens Scheme. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1976 having read mathematics.

Professor Danny Quah

Professor of Economics and International Development;
Director of the Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre LSE

Professor Danny Quah is Professor of Economics and International Development, and Director of the Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Quah calls “The Great Shift East” the move in the world’s economic center of gravity out of the mid-Atlantic location where it had been for most of the 19th and 20th centuries, pulled by the rise of economies in the east. Between 1980 and 2010 that economic center of gravity moved 5,000 km east, to the Persian Gulf, on a trajectory that continues to take it towards the boundary between India and China.

Quah has served previously as Council Member on Malaysia’s National Economic Advisory Council and as Consultant for the Bank of England, the World Bank, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Dr. Thum Ping Tjin

Coordinator of Project Southeast Asia;
Visiting Fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford

Thum Ping Tjin is a Singaporean intellect who dedicates most of his time in the field of research; ranging from the history of Singapore and Malaysia to the Cold War and decolonisation in Southeast Asia.

Thum graduated from Harvard University in 2000 with bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies and subsequently received Rhodes Scholarship to attend Hertford College at the University of Oxford for second Bachelor’s degree in Modern History and Politics. He then returned to University of Oxford under Commonwealth scholarship where he completed Doctor of Philosophy in Modern History.

During his education years in Harvard University and University of Oxford, Thum was actively involved in swimming; representing his home country team in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and even became the first Singaporean to swim the English Channel.

Thum is presently the co ordinator of Project Southeast Asia, a notable project by his alma mater, University of Oxford with the ultimate aim of establishing a Centre for Southeast Asian Studies., he is now a Research Fellow at Green Templeton College, United Kingdom and Jeffrey Cheah Institute on Southeast Asia.

Karim Raslan

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, KRA Group

Karim Raslan is an acclaimed Southeast Asian commentator and columnist. He is the founder and CEO of the KRA Group, a public affairs consulting firm with an ASEAN-wide focus. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, he has developed a deep understanding of business and politics across Southeast Asia, especially of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.

He is the author of five books, “Ceritalah: Malaysia in Transition”, “Heroes and Other Stories”, “Ceritalah 2: Journeys Through Southeast Asia” and “Ceritalah 3: Malaysia the Dream Deferred” as well as his first Bahasa Indonesia-language book, “Ceritalah Indonesia”.

From 2010/200 he served as the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council chairman for Southeast Asia. Karim is also a member of the International Crisis Group’s Board of Trustees.

In 2013, Karim’s documentary series “Ceritalah Malaysia” was aired in the lead-up to the Malaysian General Elections on Astro Awani.

Okky Pusa Madasari

Indonesian award-winning author

Okky Puspa Madasari is an Indonesian author and inspirational figure. In 2012, at 28 years old, she became the youngest winner of Indonesia’s most elebrated literary prize, Khatulistiwa Literary Award for her third novel, Maryam. Her novels were also shortlisted three years in a row for the same award.

Mrs. Madasari’s novels consistently voice issues concerning human rights and freedom. They aim to portray realistically the current state of Indonesia while also showcasing universal issues, including religious oppression, military violence, and corruption.

With 20 years of global experience, Wempy has lived in London, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and Jakarta working on business assignments for American Express, Microsoft, Sony, Citigroup, SAP, Samsung, BP, Nokia, LG, Lenovo and Accor. Wempy has worked for prominent communications agencies including Ogilvy, Young & Rubicam and Wunderman, rising to become Global Business Director in the United States.

Today Wempy is an investor and advisor at companies across Europe, America and Asia Pacific, mentoring and guiding the CEOs across all areas of leadership, finance, technology, resource management, operations, sales, marketing and global business development.

Wempy also mentors at Asia’s leading startup accelerator, Chinaccelerator in Shanghai and Europe’s Seedstars World in Geneva. He is also an advisor at the Global Entrepreneurship Program, established by President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. To advance social entrepreneurship, Wempy serves as the lead Indonesian judge at the Hult Prize, a competition established by President Bill Clinton.

In 2015, Wempy was again named as one of the most powerful Indonesians in Prestige Magazine’s annual “40 Under 40” list.

Wempy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney and Master’s in International Studies from the University of Sydney.
